The Long overdue post: Our PMC journey
Below: Pic of our 7 Love re-attributes.

We were actually done with our PMC (Premartial Counselling) a few months ago! (We are done in July) but, I (dawn, the faithful writer) has been so busy that I couldn't mark this journey in our couple's blog. Anyway, just to share..I didn't believe in PMC before but when I went into a relationship with Jon, the first things we spoke about (and pray about) was a mentor-couple to mentor us in the relationship. We thought accountability, being prayed over, guidance and that friendship was really important to us. A relationship (esp a Christian one) is not just about two persons. I remembered my friend who was married for more than 20 years told me that his marriage for the initial 2 years were very tough. There were alot of tension between them. But, it was friends, prayers and the church that pulled them through those difficult times. Yes, unjudgemental support from friends & mentors were so important. Thereby, we prayed for a mentor.
We didn't even think about going through PMC because we thought PMCs were meant for those who are really going to get married (like 9 months before) and we weren't planning anything yet. However, when the Lord sent us a couple-mentor, he and his wife brought us through PMC too! Haha..i thought I was all planned by God! :) He is actually a church pastor and also a counsellor. So, we are very comfortable with him & his wife :) I was alittle apprehensive in the first place, but Jon (my bestest boyfriend) took the lead in arranging meetings together and making sure I am comfortable etc. :)) In the midst of the fears and apprehension, (It wasn't easy for me to trust someone & also to share etc) the Lord gave me two verses which I clinged on throughout the PMC:
" As for me, I trust in You O God." ~ Psalm 31:14
"Do not be afraid, nor dismayed, for the Lord is with You wherever You go."~Joshua
We went through 7 sessions of PMC:
Session 01: Why Christian Marriage, God & marriage
Session 02: Self Esteem
Session 03: The role of a husband
Session 04: The role of a wife
Session 05: Communication
Session 06: Financial
Session 07: Sex and Intimacy
Overall, there were sessions which after that, Jon & myself had disagreements over but were resolved..and there were sessions where there were deep sharings, affirmations and prayers that Jon & myself went through..there were sessions were we laughed, teased and make fun of each other :) Overall, the PMC journey was a very good one. I felt that it brought us closer together, in more determination & committment to each other. Also, the committment to surrender the relationship to God believing that He is above us.
